Is The Suicide Squad the best DC film ever made?

Critics enjoyed The Suicide Squad much more than they did the 2016 movie; 91 percent awarded it a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while just 26 percent did the same for the previous year’s release. The image was universally praised by both critics and the general public, and has an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was so successful on Thursday night previews, earning $4.1 billion, that it broke records by being the first R-rated film to debut over $4 billion. The big news is that this film’s instant streaming success has been unveiled.

Despite overwhelmingly positive critical and audience responses, the box office success of The Suicide Squad has been highly debatable. The fact that COVID-19 has continued to spread, along with the Delta version, has been the source of the box office decline. Because of confusing marketing, Deadshot’s absence, and a lack of link to the previous picture, some are saying that the poor box office returns are due to the absence of Deadshot and the strange marketing of the film. However, some considered the success of the film is due to the new characters like Peacemaker.

HBO Max released a short called Peacemaker, in which John Cena is featured as a member of the Suicide Squad again. Gunn’s directorial debut is Peacemaker, which is based on a script that he got a straight-to-series order for in September 2020 from HBO Max. Gunn previously described Peacemaker as a “opportunity to delve into current global issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag.” I want to make The Suicide Squad, and that means I need to get started developing the DC cinematic character for a series. To be honest, it’s really a plus to be working with John, Peter, and my friends at Warner Bros.

The director has more films in development, according to Walter Hamada, President of DC Films. Hopefully, The Suicide Squad will be recognized for its success thanks to Gunn’s future endeavors and favorable reviews from both the fans and reviewers.
