Perfect Shaving: 3 Steps Guarantee a Job Well Done
It may seem that the act of shaving comes down to just preparing the face, passing the razor and that’s it, but the truth is that the process involves 3 steps that will facilitate your work and guarantee a perfect result.
Perfect Shaving: 3 Steps Guarantee a Job Well Done
Step 1 – Pre-shave
Objective: to prepare the entire area to be shaved, making it more suitable for shaving, regardless of the type used.
What to do?
The ideal is to leave the skin soft, avoiding irritations, and soften the hair to facilitate the cut, but as not everyone has the patience to heat a towel for this purpose, as in some traditional barber shops, there are alternatives:
a) The first is to leave to shave after the hot bath, when the pores are open and the strands are soft;
b) The second is to use a pre-shaving oil or lotion, this product has the function of making the skin and the hair suitable for the passage of the blade, avoiding repetitive effort and irritation. The application is simple: just apply a small amount of oil before shaving cream. Most products should not be rinsed, as they can be mixed with cream or foam to facilitate cutting.
Just to be clear, you can use methods A and B together, no problem.
Note: there are those who skip this step, but this is not advisable if you have sensitive skin and / or a thick beard.
Step 2 – Shave
Objective: to create a layer of beard product on the face that makes the blade slide easily and cut hairs more efficiently.
What to do?
Basically we have three known options for this phase: shaving foam, shaving gel and shaving cream that has the texture closest to that of an ointment. I have already tested the 3 types and I can guarantee that the difference in the result is minimal, the important thing, in fact, is to use quality products. The application is also similar, so you can’t say that there is anything easier or that takes less time.
Step 3 – After shave care
Objective: to prevent skin redness and ingrown wires.
What to do?
However capricious and precise you are, it is always good to prevent! After passing the blade it is wise to apply a cream or lotion to leave the skin smooth and free from irritation, in addition to preventing any hair from getting stuck. There are aftershave oils and creams for this service
