How to Wear Hats in Male Looks

So far there is not a single article on caps on the Male Channel, even after more than 2,500 texts on men’s fashion, style and grooming have been published, I always preferred to talk about accessories that could add something interesting to the man’s look and were no longer massively adopted. by this audience, as is the case with the cap, after all, it is rare for those who do not wear it.

My problem with the cap is that a lot of people don’t think of it as an element to compose the look, so the accessory ends up becoming a disjointed piece in the visual, especially when it comes to a model full of logos designs and colors, but there is a solution for this…

The minimalist male cap

Minimalism has long been a trend among men, especially after you discover that the more visually simple your clothes, the easier they are to match. It works the same way with caps!

Why a minimalist cap?

The simplest caps are easy to use and can be incorporated into the most diverse styles, it is practically impossible to wear formal clothes. Therefore, the less information on the piece, the better, but that does not mean that you cannot vary colors or invest in a piece with a texture that can add style to the look, quite the contrary.

Caps: How to Wear them in Men’s Looks

Below are some examples of models and ways to use in the urban setting:

Casual cool

This is one of the best examples, in my opinion. One color, contrasting cap with a nice texture. Discreet, cool and suitable for the look that also brings little information.

The fashion of the house

The uniform of 90% of Brazilians: shorts and T-shirt. But this one in the photo has its good points, like the beige shorts with a cut cut on the legs and length above the knees, lengthening the silhouette, the same goes for the black t-shirt in the exact size. The boy opted for a black baseball cap with only a simple logo on the front that does not try to stand out or clash with other pieces. A lesson on how a casual look can gain a sports vibe without having to wear a team jersey.

With floral and showy prints

You may be wondering how to match when there is a more printed piece, like the floral shirts that have been so successful with men for a few seasons. This is the beauty of the minimalist cap, it is discreet and combines with soooo much, if it is neutral in color like navy, gray, beige, black or even white, even better, the possibility of making mistakes in the combo is zero!

The sporty tidy

I love that example! See how it is tidy and sporty at the same time! But the best was the choice of the light cap with the shirt and pants in dark tones. Attention turns to the face and gives a clean footprint to the visual functioning perfectly.

Cap with strong color can?

You can put the neutral colors aside, of course, but in order not to sin by the excess it is best to invest in clothes with little information and tones that do not compete with those of the cap, then the neutrals do. Is it possible to use strong colors and make a good look? Yes, but in that case you have to master chromatic harmonies, as explained here. The cool thing about this look is that it is bold and cool without much effort, with the cap drawing attention without being flashy.

With something more elaborate

The time has come to show an example with something more complex. The image above shows how even in an obviously more elaborate winter combo, it is also possible to fit a cap that is not too elaborate. Plain piece, just with a simple logo? It’s in!

The minimum of the minimum

This guy goes in the opposite direction of the previous look. The combo is basically white and gray, with the cap repeating the color of the shirt. In fact, if you had doubts about a white cap, here you can see that the piece fits very well.

Different format

I have been seeing many stores offering this slightly more square hat model that resembles the “caps” of American urban workers in the 30s, 40s and 50s, nothing more fair since workwear has been influencing men’s fashion in recent years. When using, nothing new, the same tips are valid, although it is less sporty.

On cold days

The winter costume usually has more pieces and, consequently, more information, so the cap with a clean look appears as an alternative to protect the head from the cold wind and, at the same time, does not pollute the look.

Sports casual

The casual sports combo is a good opportunity to include a cap with a stronger color, and may even have a discreet logo somewhere. The example above is great because it includes the windbreaker and shorts in a tone on a blue tone and the contrasting red cap.

And the retro models?

I am not going to lie that I have a great sympathy for vintage-looking caps, those that bear logos that look like they came from a catalog of American hunting goods stores from the 1930s or 1940s, although some are not so minimalist, but still charming. I think in this case the best proposal to fit them in a more country look and with a slight hipster feel.
