The trends in men’s fashion for summer 2021 show how the confinement influence what we wear, with trends still point to the comfortable and stripped, with few parts with a more formal footprint emerging.

To my despair, tie-dye appears as one of the strongest trends and, despite all the effort in creating something new with the print, I still can’t feel any sympathy for clothes stained with a hippie face.

Linen – Maxi men’s fashion trend for summer 2021

Linen appears not only as a trend, but also as a style. With men confined to the home office, it is necessary to meet the demand for clothes with this vibe, but at the same time they can compose a more tidy look, if necessary.

Khaki combined with beige and discreet greens

The ones with combinations of neutral and light colors continue to be successful, but now it is beiges and other similar tones that have been combined, with a more washed version of olive green as a contrast.

“Washed” colors

Some brands are investing in a very diverse range of “washed” shades. Remember the candy colors and pastel colors? It is something similar, but not only with yellow, light blue and baby pink, there are also some shades derived from orange, green and violet, many not so vibrant and, to a certain extent, discreet.

Chess with shades of brown, orange, yellow and beige

Much seen on the catwalks – here they arrive mainly in Zara’s spring summer collection – the plaid patterns mainly use multiple shades of brown and beige to form their design. The most curious thing is that this can occur in patterns with large or thinner features, that is, the trend is more in color than in the type of plaid.

“Brushed” and geometric prints

It is more of a visual trend than a print itself. The drawings seem to have been made by a brush in a very artistic and free way, this detail can appear in large blocks, as if it were a brush stroke or in more delicate prints such as foliage and flowers with fine lines.

Thin horizontal stripes

The horizontal stripes show no signs of wear, now they arrive thinner, sometimes imperceptible when viewed from a distance. Thin stripes can also be found that are not exactly a print, but a relief on the cotton fabric itself.

Tie-dye

The plague of the season! The preference now is for hair in just two colors, like blue on a white background for example, but the most usable ones are those that have little contrast between colors, drawing less attention. The format is also more eclectic, the spirals come out and bias designs come in or even without a recognizable pattern, just spots distributed without order by the piece.

It can be found in twill pants and sweatpants, casual or water shorts, shirts, t-shirts and even jackets.

Stoned

Perhaps the discolored tie-dye has brought back the washed look, which is why many brands have invested in t-shirts, shirts and shorts in slightly stoned fabric. Just be careful when using, this type of piece carries with it a very casual air that may be inappropriate for certain environments.

Linen shirts in raw colors

They are not exactly a novelty, but this summer 2021 they appear with colors like straw, sand, beaver and khaki along with the light blue and pink that have been so successful in past seasons. In some cases these colors make it look like the shirts were made with pure linen, without any dyeing, as they are close to their original color.

Polo with stripe on collar and sleeves

I mentioned this trend on Instagra a few days ago, she is still shy, but she has everything to be successful. To get a little out of the smooth poles, men are opting for models with one or two thin stripes on the collar and sleeves, which makes the piece a little more sporty, but not enough to lose its versatility.

The favorite colors of the crowd for this type of piece are navy, wine, black and white.

Straight fit jeans

God knows why, but there is a lot of brand investing in straight jeans, maybe it is the desire to take men’s attention away from the slim and skinny fit, although the Brazilian feels very comfortable with them and shows no inclination to any other cut.

Light wash jeans in medium and light colors

In another attempt to emulate the 90s, Zara and other chains have brought jeans with light wash and without much effect or with little contrasting effects. This type of fabric plus the straight cut is a portrait of the last decade of the last century, the nostalgic will vibrate.

White twill pants or chinos

White pants are a bet both on social networks, with many influencers risking creating looks with them, in the wake of this wave the stores are offering the garment in various versions, such as the 5 pockets twill, the chino or the lighter version in linen with a small percentage of other fibers to make it look nicer and knead less. With the summer, the piece can fit better in the nautical and beach combos and win fans that later can take it to the urban environment. Who knows, maybe now!

Carrot pants (carrot)

The saruel pants seem to have given up on winning their place in the sun, but the carrot (or carrot, if you prefer) keeps trying to enter the men’s radar. The most popular chains have their versions for sale, usually trying to pass for a chino modified to have a higher waist and extremely tapering legs to the point of leaving a certain slack in the thighs but tightening the calf. Some may add elastic waistband for comfort, but in general it is still the same product as always.

The colors that are most present in the macaws are medium gray, light gray, navy, beige and caramel.

Cargo pants have to be chosen carefully, the model that is on the rise today has the most adjusted cut, like a chino, and flat pockets, that is, it is a cargo, but without the cargo pockets that expand, because the the idea is to keep the silhouette lean even with the props on the legs – yes, props, these pockets are just embellishments, don’t fill them with junk!

As workwear and militarism speak loudly when talking about cargo style, colors like olive green, caramel, khaki and beige are good choices for the summer.

Linen and cotton shorts with elastic at the waist or cord

If you don’t like wearing warm clothes with a belt, you can celebrate, many stores bring shorts and shorts with elastic at the waist or even a cord adjustment. Comfort comes at a price: clothing is even more casual, which doesn’t mean much when you’re wearing shorts, does it?

Before anyone asks if this was not common before: the difference is that it was very common in beach shorts and sweatpants, not in shorts and linen pants.

Sneakers with brown or bicolor rubber soles

You know that brown midsole, very common in very old sneakers, now it appears in white sneakers to give a retro look and change this type of shoes a little. It doesn’t really change much, but it can encourage you to buy a new pair of white leather or canvas.

Sneakers with neutral colors

After the invasion of neutrals in pants, shirts and jackets, it is time for the same combination to appear in sneakers. If streetwear brought the treading with strong and striking colors, now the sneakers appear white gives space to gray, beige and brown, this can happen in classic models or in ugly shoes that are still around, but without the same strength of previous years .

Of course, something this season had to show up to haunt my nightmares! The male gardener is a piece that even the stores are kind of ashamed of, it is never in the spotlight, but it is there at Zara, C&A, Youcom, just to name a few.

It is not sexy, it is not practical, it is not elegant, so why insist? I don’t know, but it’s out there and I hope it disappears as soon as possible.
